Radio interference at Buder

Postby calmat » Apr Thu 05, 2007 8:03 pm

I sometimes see mishaps at Buder that the pilots blame on interference. I have been flying there almost 20 years and the only problem i ever had was before i learned to always check battery charge. I have used World engines Expert, Airtronics and low priced Tower radios. No interference. What problems do other have? Any experiences to share?

Only when I fly electric planes running GWS micro xtals do I get the notorious interference near the aluminum light poles at the baseball field. I bought a micro xtal from these guys: http://www.performancedevices.com./ and the problem was solved.

New to this forum. Usually on RcGroups.
Glad to have a local outlet.

I know most people will say to stay away from channel 20, it's not even on the board at the field and Shaeffers doesn,t seem to carry channel 20 at all.
Most of my interferance is at the corner near the control line end. Seems that is where the planes are closest to the high power lines near highway.

Bought a BERG 7 rec. and that thing is great. Even rubbed my radio anntenna on the rec. antenna and did not glitch once. They say it has triple filters and on power up it learns your radio output. Seems to me they might be right.

Look forward to seeing everyone at the field.

That was a great read. Sounds like we might have some signal bounce from all those puddles and standing water around Buder. Wish we could know for sure. Guy at the field showed me his channel meter and channel 30 or 31 can't remember which one was always lit up with no one else at the field.

I was shocked to see it on his unit also. I was told only 20 was a problem. It was a new unit. Wonder if it had a problem. He did not have the antenna attached to it so the signal had to be strong. Might pay to do a range check extensively if you have thos channels. The guy who had the unit is named Steve and flys a huge aerobatic plane at the field.

I know Hobbytown in Town and Country has a 72Mhz freq checker for about 65 dollars.... I might invest in one too cause I am on 34 and once and a while I get little glitches.... I talked to the guy i bought the radio from and he said that he got glitched at buder on that channel a few times. might be time to change the freq on my gear

39.99, I willing to chip in, and make this a permanent installment at the park, anyone think this is a good idea?

I finally had enough of the glitches and went 2.4G. Still use 72Mhz for my foamies. Gratious offer, I know that if you did get the freq. checker it would be a great service to others at the field.
If you did get it, maybe there could be a way to put it on a tether hooked in the First Aid box so it wouldn't walk off. The combination is on everyones Buder permit so you know members are using it.
